AUSVEG is the prescribed national Peak Industry Body for Australia’s over 3,600 vegetable, potato and onion producers, who account for 3.8 million tonnes of vegetable production worth $5.7 billion in farmgate value annually. This includes almost 1.5 million tonnes of annual potato production, worth more than $1.1 billion – making potatoes the single largest commodity group produced in the Australian vegetable industry by volume and value.

AUSVEG is owned by growers, for growers. Our core functions include representing the interests of potato, vegetable and onion growers through advocacy to the highest levels of government, and by fostering adoption of productivity-enhancing innovation that promotes a vibrant and sustainable industry. AUSVEG also delivers high-quality services to growers in areas such as extension, communications, international trade development and biosecurity, among others.
AUSVEG partners with the International Fresh Produce Association Australia-New Zealand (IFPA-ANZ) to host Hort Connections, the largest horticulture conference in the Southern Hemisphere.

PEI Department of Agriculture

The agriculture industry is the single largest contributor to the economy of Prince Edward Island. The mandate of the Department of Agriculture is to promote the growth of sustainable and prosperous farming enterprise, and thereby increase the economic impact of the industry. The department provides a range of programs and services to broaden and diversify the industry, support innovation and encourage value-added opportunities.

Providing quality advice and assistance to producers is a top priority for the department.

The major goals of the department include the provision of effective risk management for producers; promoting environment stewardship practices; supporting food safety and quality; and carrying out measures to encourage industry self-reliance. It also offers laboratory and diagnostic services.

The department works closely with agricultural and commodity groups and seeks their input on agricultural policies and programs. It is also exploring new opportunities for areas of cooperation with other provinces in the region. The department also partners with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to deliver joint programs in the province.

New strategies are being developed to support and encourage the production and marketing of high quality products from sustainable production systems that will be increasingly recognized and rewarded in the marketplace.

As the marketing organization for the 2,000 potato farming families operating in the United States, Potatoes USA promotes five main potato products: fresh table-stock potatoes, fresh chipping potatoes, seed potatoes, frozen potato products, and dehydrated potato products.

Potatoes USA was established in 1971 by a group of potato farmers to promote the benefits of eating potatoes. Today, as the largest vegetable commodity board, they are proud to be recognized as an innovator in the produce industry.

Prince Edward Island Potato Board

The Prince Edward Island Potato Board represents the more than 180 potato growers in the province, working together to ensure long term profitability and sustainability through marketing, advocacy, negotiations and activities to support quality seed, tablestock and processing potato production. We are Canada’s largest potato producing province, with approximately 25 percent of total Canadian production and approximately 30 percent of total seed potato production. About one half of all seed potato growers in Canada farm in PEI. Our seed and tablestock potatoes are sold in more than 30 countries around the world. Close to sixty percent of our crop is now produced specifically for processing into french fries, potato chips, dehydrated potato granules and other value-added products.  The potato industry is worth more than one billion dollars to the Prince Edward Island economy in direct and indirect value.

Simplot

The J.R. Simplot Company, a privately held agribusiness firm headquartered in Boise, Idaho, has an integrated portfolio that includes phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, food processing, food brands, and other enterprises related to agriculture. Simplot’s major operations are located in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, and China, with products marketed in more than 40 countries worldwide.

SnowValley Food Hebei Co., Ltd

SnowValley Food Hebei Co., Ltd was founded in 2012 and is located in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. They are a significant potato all-Industry chain company in China integrating potato seed research, modern agriculture, food production, processing and marketing. SnowValley is Asia’s largest frozen fries producer including novel products such as 7mm shoestring French fries, 10mm straight cut French fries, crinkle cut French fries, steak cut French fries, VF fries, and snack chips, etc.

Since the year 2019, SnowValley’s has seen expansion into international market development, currently covering Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia etc. They promote the concept of health, nutrition, and green innovation, putting diet health in a higher priority!

Sunrise Potato Storage Ltd.

Sunrise Potato is an intergenerational farm involving Peter & Carla VanderZaag, daughter Ruth and son-in-law Nick Ploeg. We are located in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. We grow, store and market potatoes for the chip snack food sector. Our potatoes are processed both in Canada as well as in the NE USA.

We grow numerous chipping varieties on 19 different farmland locations within 40km of our storage facility.
Our state-of-the-art storage facilities hold up to 400,000 cwt (18,000 tonnes) of potatoes in 19 separate bins. The potatoes are stored for up to 10 months and then prepared for delivery through an automated wash line system where they are washed and sorted.

Sunrise Potato Storage employs 5 full time workers and 6 part-time workers. We also have 4 seasonal workers from Mexico from March thru October.

Potato Limited employs a diverse staff of 85 employees, owns a dedicated fleet of over 60 trucks and 80 trailers and manages our state-of-the-art refrigerated storage and wash facility in Ontario that holds 620,000 cwt of potatoes.
