International Working Groups/

Thematic Workshops

 

Space is filling up quickly for the Monday sessions with some at or near capacity! An exciting new initiative to be officially launched at the 13th World Potato Congress are International Working Groups for Potatoes. A structured platform has been established for ongoing collaboration on key topics during and between congresses. This platform is designed to deepen WPC’s impact in mission-aligned areas and to connect global stakeholders around shared priorities. Building on these discussions, Monday 26th October will be dedicated to focused dialogue through Thematic Group Workshops.

The overall theme of WPC 2026 Kenya is “Global Potato Partnership for Enhanced Food Systems, Nutrition Security and Trade”.

WPC 2026 Kenya brings together global stakeholders to address the future of the potato in transforming food systems, improving nutrition, and driving inclusive trade. As the potato gains prominence in climate-resilient agriculture and global supply chains, WPC 2026 Kenya offers a platform for innovation, dialogue, and collaboration.

The highlight of the Technical Tour program is the Farmers Field Day hosted by FreshCrop. The Field Day will bring together the global potato community including technology, inputs, variety trials etc. and over 1,500 delegates and farmers. The Field Day can be followed up with a number of overnight tours taking in processor and research sites which allow delegates to combine their technical tour experience with an overnight stay in Nakuru or Nairobi followed by a morning safari!
