Applications for Sponsorship to attend World Potato Congress, Adelaide, Australia are now open.

The World Potato Congress Inc, (WPC), is an organization committed to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Sustainability Goals, the objectives of which include improving food security and nutrition for all and to find new and better ways to promote sustainable agriculture.

In addition, the “Declaration of Dublin: Fostering Potato Partnerships for Food Security,” adopted by the World Potato Congress Inc., helps set the stage for initiatives to enhance collaboration and advance the global potato industry. The Declaration seeks to promote the linking of global partners together to share knowledge and success stories in the global potato industry.

Under the umbrella of the Declaration of Dublin, and thanks to the generosity of the WPC Platinum Partners, WPC Inc. and Potatoes Australia Ltd., approximately 20 delegates will have the opportunity to receive financial support to attend the Australia Congress this coming June.

WPC Platinum Partner Contributions:

Each year, a portion of the WPC Platinum Sustaining Partner Membership fees are earmarked to support this initiative. Of the 20 successful applicants, 10 will be supported as a result of the generous donations by our Platinum Partners including Earth Fresh, McCain Foods, J.R. Simplot, IPM Potato Group, TriCal Group, Snow Valley, Syngenta, WD Potato Ltd., the Prince Edward Island Potato Board, and Netafim.

Dr. Nigel Crump, Acting Chair of Potatoes Australia and WPC Director says “the aim is to provide a voice to development projects and ensure  the Congress is truly global in nature.  It will be an opportunity to provide a global forum to foster collaboration and to establish partnerships to further address the needs highlighted in the Declaration of Dublin.”

Twenty delegates from Asia, South America, and Africa will be supported to attend the World Potato Congress in Adelaide, Australia June 23-26, 2024.  Successful applicants will have the opportunity to have their Congress registration fee covered, full accommodation for up to five nights in Adelaide, Australia, as well as $1100 Australian Dollars towards the cost of round-trip flights to Adelaide. (Conditions apply,).

World Potato Congress Inc. Board Chair Dr. Peter VanderZaag expresses the Congress’s dedication to delivering on the Dublin Declaration “The WPC 2024 is not just a gathering; it’s a platform for action, collaboration, and progress.
