World Potato Congress Inc. Welcomes Idaho Potato Commission as Platinum Sustaining Partner
As the World Potato Congress Inc. looks ahead to the excitement of the 13th Congress October 2026 in Kenya, we are pleased to announce the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) as our newest Platinum Sustaining Partner.
Established in 1937, the IPC is a state agency dedicated to promoting and protecting the iconic “Grown in Idaho®” seal—an assurance to consumers worldwide that they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes.
Jamey Higham, President and CEO of the Idaho Potato Commission, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the WPC’s distinguished network: “IPC has done a tremendous job of stewarding the brand, and we look forward to having any opportunity to align with global initiatives which provide networking supports to further our work alongside the global potato community”.
Idaho’s potato industry, valued at over $1.2 billion annually, produces approximately one-third of all potatoes grown in the United States. The state’s unique growing conditions, including rich volcanic soil, warm days, cool nights, and proper irrigation, create the perfect environment for cultivating the world-renowned Idaho® potato. More than 300,000 acres are dedicated to potato production across the state, supporting thousands of jobs and contributing significantly to the local economy.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Idaho Potato Commission as our newest Sustaining Platinum Partner,” said Peter VanderZaag, President of the World Potato Congress Inc. “The IPC’s commitment to excellence, coupled with their industry leadership and expertise continues to contribute significantly to advancing the potato sector worldwide.”
As we head into the holiday season, a sincere Thank You to all our global industry friends and colleagues, including the following World Potato Congress Inc. Sustaining Partners, for your support of our ongoing initiatives. May this be a time of peace and joy for all.
